E-cigarettes key to giving up smoking – IBVTA partner Public Health England on Stoptober campaign
During October the government run the ‘Stoptober’ campaign to encourage people to give up smoking. This year for the first time it is promoting e-cigarettes as a viable way of quitting.
It comes after e-cigarettes proved the most popular tool for quitting during last year's campaign, with 53% of people using them. In total, over 1.5 million people took part in Stoptober last year.
The government's deputy chief medical officer Prof Gina Radford said that e-cigarettes had "95% less harmful products" in them than normal cigarettes and therefore it made sense to promote them during Stoptober.

The IBVTA have partnered with Public Health England on this year’s Stoptober campaign to add weight to the promotion that vaping can actively help people to give up smoking.
